Many people don’t know that there is a customer lifecycle when it comes to purchasing new things. They don’t notice that they do certain things prior to buying products.
This cycle consists of three things and when I name it, you will soon realize what I mean.
3 steps in the customer lifecycle
The three steps in the customer’s lifecycle is Researching, The Decision Process, and of course the Purchasing of the product. Those are the controlling factors on deciding how close a customer is to becoming a paying customer which is what we all are working for.
Step 1: Research Phase
Before you buy any product you want to know everything there possibly is to know about it before you go and spend your hard earned money. You want to learn what is the good and the bad of the product to know if your getting your pennies worth.
Some purchasing decisions are different from the others, people learn about a certain concept before even considering to buy something, and this learning is done using many different forms. These forms include Facebook, television, Twitter, Tumblr, a Google search, magazines, or even from celebrities.
People naturally do their researches online because now in our society, that’s the fastest and easiest way to find out information. Everything is online and easy to find. Technology is only getting better.
You type in any topic in Google, you will find out what you need to know, for Google is where the majority of researches are done on the net and where you can locate a good amount of people in their research phase.
Best Approach: In the research phase, the best thing to do is try and get people onto a mailing list or get them following you on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Google +, Pinterest). From this point you can work towards guiding them through the remainder of the process, you are most likely not going to make a sale. If you engage people at this point with your content, you will be able to get them to revisit your site another time.
Step 2: Decision Phase
During this phase some people have already decided what product they are going to buy, and they want it right this instant. For most people, they will go through another decision phase where they research a number of products/services and decide which one best suits them.
A persons decision can easily be changed by reviews and personalized opinions from other people. This is where a great internet marketer can intercept a person, showcase certain products that are relevant and of high quality, and deliver a convincing review to encourage a decision.
At this point people are looking for product reviews or more product insight through their favorite online channels, whether it’s blog posts, doing some digging with Google, or getting feedback on Facebook.
Best Approach: During this phase, this is the best time to pick up potential customers. It is best to review products or services that a person is looking for. At times people are looking for negative reviews and you can use this as leverage for there are many bad products out there.
Keywords in this phase revolve around review, scam, comparison, information, and versus (meaning comparing products against each other).
If the customer feels comfortable with your review and trust in it, they will potentially buy and you earn your commission.
Step 3: Purchasing Phase/Action Phase
This phase is the phase that is profitable to we internet marketers. No commissions will be paid unless there is action being taken. Whether it be just a click, a lead, or a sale, a visitor needs to become a customer to fulfill the lifecycle.
It is very difficult to veer a customer from their purchasing decision. At this point they have already done all the research they needed, made the decision, and now they are fully prepared to purchase.
An example of some search terms that would target your buyers are “purchase product_name, order product_name, buy product_name, best price on product_name”.
With these search terms, you’ll be able to get the kind of traffic you need.
Best Approach: Your ultimate goal is to get someone to this phase, whether you manually walk them through the process, or you catch them in the decision phase and help them buy.
If you stick to the keywords about (the buy type keywords), you will point your customers in the right direction of the product they are looking on buying (through your affiliate link of course) and you’ll be able to convert very high.
This is the ultimate and most important phase to catch someone in, but is also difficult to hunt these “ready to buy” customers down.
I have just stated the 3 steps in the customer purchase lifecycle and I hope it helped you gain the knowledge you needed to get those customers in. Keep your motivation high and reel in those customers and never give up on trying.
Sometimes it may take a while to get some customers but through hard work and patience it will all pay off when you have that constant flow of customers and income. Remember to use the target keywords and apply them in all your articles. The sky is the limit!
