Many of us serving Active Duty in the military wonder what we would be doing when we become civilians again. We wonder if we could Survive After Serving Active Duty?
I’m only saying that because I myself adapted to the military life. Waking up early in the morning to do Physical Training (PT), and just the everyday work week in general.
What most of us don’t realize is that it is pretty easy getting by in the military because everything is basically paid for.
I will explain more through this article.
Paying For Rent Or Mortgage
The biggest thing that we fail to realize is that being in the military, our rent or mortgage is paid for so we don’t feel it coming out from our paycheck. If you live on post, you don’t feel it at all because it is automatically taken out.
If you really think about it, being in the civilian world is pretty hard. If you were to pay for rent, it is about half of your paycheck depending on where you stay.
A good thing to remember is that if you stay in service for your first initial contract, you will be eligible to use your GI Bill, which is for college after the military.
When using it, it will offer Basic Allowance For Housing (BAH) which will cover you for about 3 to 4 years. In order to get your full BAH, you would have to be a full time student taking classes on campus, if you only do online, you will only get half the amount depending on the rates in your area.
So remember, if you want to keep your housing allowance after you get out of the military, use your GI Bill.
Within the 3-4 years, you should be planning on how you would be paying for rent. The military could only help you for so long.
Getting Basic Allowance For Substance (BAS)
Getting food allowance is another big plus in the military. We really don’t realize how much it helps us. We are able to live comfortably because the military provides us with this allotted amount of money designated for food and necessities. In the civilian world, normal jobs do not offer this.
It’s a pretty scary thought of losing these great privileges, but if you stick with me to the end of this article, I am going to show you how I prepared myself for a plan B in case something happened along the way while I am serving or for when I get out of the military.
How I Prepared Myself To Survive After The Military
Like anyone in this world, we need a backup plan in case we get injured while training or on deployment. We never know what is going to happen or what the future may hold.
I am in the Infantry and it has two major downfalls. The first one is that I am automatically prone to injuries from the trainings and tasks I am assigned to do. The second one is that the infantry is a career that won’t really benefit me after I get out. There is no specific skill to learn.
I have a family and I always think about them with everything I do because my actions will not only affect me, but will affect them more.
I was sitting down messing with my computer one night, and I was curious if I could work part time while serving active duty. This curiosity came upon me because I was looking for any opportunity to help better my life and help my family make more money.
I felt this way because as you all know, there isn’t much out there that the Infantry has to offer in the civilian world. I’m only saying that because our only MO is training to fight. It made me really start thinking because I needed something to fall back on or another type of background.
So back to my night on my computer, as I was searching for opportunities to work part time while in the military, I ran into something called affiliate marketing.
It caught my attention because it was talking about making money selling other peoples products. Who wouldn’t want to make money selling someone else’s products? It’s not a hard job and you don’t have to put any money out there to create products.
How Affiliate Marketing Changed My Life
I dug up more information about affiliate marketing and it basically told me that I just needed to choose a topic (NICHE) that I liked and have a little knowledge on, and write blogs on it.
I really needed more info on how to create my own website, then I came across this program called Wealthy Affiliate.
Wealthy Affiliate really caught my attention because it was free to create a starter account and it gave me all the knowledge I needed to succeed in affiliate marketing.
I followed the training that Wealthy Affiliate provided and within 2 months, I started making money selling other people’s products. The way the money was made was by linking products that I write reviews on to sites like Amazon, and when someone makes a purchase using my link, I make a commission.
You will learn all about it through the Wealthy Affiliate training.
So you see, you could make money online right from your home and there is no boss to tell you what to do or when to do it.
You could get off from duty and go straight to your computer and start earning more money. I’ve been doing affiliate marketing for about 6 months now and all I can say that I am financially ready for the civilian life.
If I wanted to, I could work another job when I get out, but I would rather stay home and spend time with my family, while making money at the same time.
Now that you know how I prepared myself, I recommend you try out MY #1 Recommended Program and take action to prepare yourself for when you make the big transition out of the military or just to have a plan B.
I just want to thank you for taking the time to read my article. I hope it has helped you open your mind to other opportunities.
I love that I can work from home, because the military has taken a lot of time away from my family. I know I’m not the only one out there that feels this way. That is my main reason why I decided to share this with everyone.
